National Chi Nan University College of Humanities
Indigenous Culture Industry and Social Work Program for Undergraduate Indigenous Students

INTRODUCTION
The cultural industries of Taiwan’s Indigenous Peoples have gradually gained importance over the past two dedaces . In response to tribal developmental trends, National Chi Nan University (NCNU) officially established the Indigenous Development Studies Interdisciplinary Program in 2014 to cultivate practical participation by Indigenous young generations in the future development of Indigenous Peoples’ affairs. The program had changed into Indigenous Culture Industry and Social Work Program in 2018.
The issues that Indigenous society faces—land, industry, education, and social welfare—require comprehensive and pragmatic consideration and experience. Thus, this program has as its foundation knowledge of the history, culture, and contemporary issues of Taiwan’s Indigenous Peoples that accord with the educational methods of the university system. It also incorporates courses on relevant indigenous tribal experience and arranges internships and workshops to realize the spirit of Learning by Doing and cultivate core Indigenous community development talent.
